Washburn, Illinois, founded
in 1851, is a community of about 1100 people. It is located at the
northern edge of Woodford County,
about 35 miles northwest of Peoria.
Our downtown business area is centered on the intersection of
Walnut and Jefferson streets. The routing of Illinois
Route 89 (Jefferson Street) through Washburn
caused the original Main Street, some four
blocks away, to no longer serve as our business area focal point.
As you will see by clicking on the links below, we have a number
of retail, commercial, and service organizations spread throughout
our school district.
Grant Ireland Memorial Park,
just off Route 89 about 15 miles west of Interstate 39, provides
the community with a variety of recreational choices. Snag Creek
Golf Course also offers the opportunity for a simple round of golf
or a tournament.
We would be pleased to have you visit our community. We invite
you to patronize the businesses, services and community activities
represented in the following pages. |
