Hance George Swisher

B. about 1698 D.

Hance's father, Heinrich landed in New York, with 4 children over the age of ten. Hance was apprenticed out in New York around 1710, and he purchased 339 acres of land at French Creek in Chester Co. PA between 1718-1720. In the tax rolls of 1724, he was listed as Hance Swichhser in the Coventry area. (North part of Chester Co.)

In the assessment made in the year 1720, Hance was in the list of the "inhabitants upon Schoolkill above the French Creek". His son  was granted "Letters of Administration" on May 22,1742, for his father's estate, so Hance died shortly before that date.  His wife's name is not known, but has been stated to have been married between the time that he was in NY, and arriving at Chester Co. PA.

 Children

John Switzer b. abt.1720, Elizabeth Switzer Engers, Jacob Switzer

Heinrich immigrated before the "3 Brothers" that are noted in Swisher/Switzer history.  This branch of the family settled in Virginia. In 1749, John came on the ship "Fane", and Valentine came on the ship, "Lydia".  Nicholas came on the ship"Snow Squirrel" in 1761.  My mother was for sometime of the opinion that our John 1 was one of the 3 brothers, but later was convinced by the evidence that we were descended from Hance instead, and the family history bears this.
