Anna Spitler

  B.5/4/1795 D. 11/7/1885

\\\\\Anna was born in Rockbridge Co. Virginia and married John Whistler. They moved to Montgomery Co. Ohio in 1831, then to Wayne Co. Ind in1834, and finally to Appanoose Co. Iowa in 1852. She was baptised in the Church of the Brethren in 1837, and when she moved to Iowa, the first two Communion services in Appanoose Co. IA were held in her home.

m. 4/20/1820 Botetourt Co. VA.

 Children: Susannah 1821, Samuel 1822, Henry 1824, Anna 1829, John Jr. 1831, Jacob 1834, David 1826.

 

Heirloom

A Lutheran catechism, Justi Gesenii S. Theol. Doctor. Rur Latechifmus Fragen uber den Fleinen Catechismuim, D.M.Lutheri, printed 1707 by Nicholas Foerster, Lueneburg, Hanover, Germany was inscribed:  "This book belongs to me, Anna Whislerin, from my father, given me January 1827."

 

 Anna's husband John Whistler was one of the executor's of  Anna's fathers estate, that was settled in Botetourt Virginia in 1826. John's brother  Henry Whistler's family also lived in this county, and his son Peter married Mary Spitler in 1827.
